recent news Plastic Ingenuity Takes Another Green Step: Thermoformed Fiber
Cross Plains, WI: With a continual commitment to preserving the environment, Plastic Ingenuity is now using wood pulp in some of its thermoforming applications. Pulp thermoforming, or thermoformed fiber is the conversion of paper or corrugated feedstock into a sustainable packaging material. The process utilizes technology which produces strong, well defined, smooth surfaced parts.
Plastic Ingenuity has recognized pulp as an alternative to petroleum based packaging due to its ability to maintain part integrity while incorporating 100% recycled materials into the process. The benefits don’t end there, since the molded fiber part can be recycled again after its useful life-cycle is complete. Finally, the feedstock can be generated from a variety of sources, including newspaper, cardboard, office paper scrap, and blends of each.
Plastic Ingenuity uses a very precise formula to balance the use of a sustainable feedstock while preserving their reputation for high quality. Plastic Ingenuity has utilized its expertise in thermoform machine building, thermoforming, and tool building to design and build a specialized pulp thermoformer to produce this new product line.
“We have numerous customers in the consumer goods and telecommunications industries, many are looking for alternatives to petroleum based products. This technology produces a premium pulp fiber part with a double sided smooth finish and gives them another option,” said National Sales Director, Denny McGuigan.
The company is extremely committed in its effort to “go green” and dedicated to the pursuit of sustainable sources for packaging materials. Their latest dedication to environmentally friendly quality is another example of striving to be the best and most responsible thermoformer in the industry.
