The Society of Plastics Industry, Inc. (SPI) announced the winners of its Thermoforming Institute National Awards (TINA) for 2006 during the annual winter meeting held February 26 – March 1, 2006 in San Diego, CA. SPI’s Thermoforming Institute is comprised of president’s and CEO’s of companies who significantly participate in the manufacturing of custom thermoformed products.

The thermoformed parts in the competition are judged on quality, innovation, creativity and use of materials. Entries were judged in nine categories representing heavy and light gauge products. The categories include; food packaging, medical, industrial, consumer and electronic. The entries must be a production item, not a prototype, and must be a custom design.

Plastic Ingenuity, Inc. entered one product in the light gauge category under consumer packaging. Plastic Ingenuity was honored with the 2006 Best of Show TINA award for their Inward Flange Tray. The inward flange tray holds a cellular phone and utilizes a unique manufacturing process to achieve a vertical flange that is trimmed inside the outermost formed features of the tray. This results in a package edge that is very smooth and gives a clean appearance.

Plastic Ingenuity, headquartered in Cross Plains, WI is a leader in the custom plastic thermoforming industry, providing solutions to the food, medical, retail, cosmetic and electronics industries.
